In a recent job, Acudor was responsible for providing three oversized custom hatches. Each hatch required a free opening size of 96″ x 96″, approximating a total size of 117″ x 117″. These custom hatches were manufactured for the Opequon Water Supply Water Treatment Plant, located in Stephenson, VA. The treatment plant was designed to help supply clean water to Frederick County residents.
These oversized hatches will serve as access points for heavy water filtration equipment to be placed and removed with a crane. Once the project is complete, the facility will be responsible for giving access to nearly three billion gallons of high-quality water to the community it serves.
To ensure that these three oversized hatches arrived in perfect condition at the job site, we mounted them on custom wedge-shaped pallets, which would then fit on a traditional 40-foot truck. Not only would this pallet design be sturdy, but it would also offer easy maneuverability on a standard forklift. The Acudor team has gone to great lengths to ensure that every aspect of creating, transporting and applying the hatches is flawless.
